Latics press release say’s: Defender signs three year deal at DW Stadium

Wigan Athletic can confirm that experienced Spanish defender Ivan Ramis has signed a three-year-deal with the Club after joining from La Liga side Real Mallorca for an undisclosed fee.

The 27 year-old becomes Roberto Martinez`s second signing of the summer transfer window following the arrival of Fraser Fyvie in July, and could make his first appearance in a Latics shirt against his former club on Sunday when the two sides meet at the DW Stadium for a pre-season friendly match.

Ramis made 103 league appearances for Real Mallorca since making his debut in February 2004 against Albacete.

Aside from a loan spell at Real Valladolid during the 2005-06 season, Ramis has spent his entire career at Mallorca having risen through the ranks from the club`s youth system.

Last season, the central defender made 34 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga side, scoring two goals, against Getafe and Rayo Vallecano.
