Wigan Athletic striker Victor Moses is desperate to start in Wednesdays Carling Cup 3rd round tie against Preston at the DW Stadium following his return from injury.

Moses got injured in the last round of the competition at Hartlepool and following a couple of weeks on the sidelines he made the squad last Sunday, featuring as a late substitute for Charles N`Zogbia.

Now the youngster wants to start the game in order to get his match sharpness back, Moses said: ‘Obviously I’ve been out injured, and I just want to get myself fit now and get a few 90 minutes under my belt’

‘I want to make it as hard as I can for the gaffer to leave me out, and just enjoy my football again. I obviously need to work on my match fitness but I’m sure that’ll come with games.

‘We’re all looking forward to Wednesday’s game and the chance to get back to winning ways. A win against Preston would be a great way to prepare for the Birmingham game on Saturday.’
