BBC GMR are reporting that Manchester City have joined Middlesbrough in preparing a bid for Wigan Athletic midfielder Jimmy Bullard in the region of £2.5 million.

GMR seem to think that it?s significant that Bullard was left out of the FA Cup tie with Leeds United on Saturday and it may be to avoid him being cup-tied ahead of a transfer, which I think is laughable because he would never have featured in that match.

They are also reporting that he has a clause in his contract that allows him to speak to clubs if a certain level of bid is made, similar to the one used by Nathan Ellington when he left for West Brom. Bullard signed a new contract in the summer and if there is any such clause in his contract, I?m sure it would be way in excess of £2.5 million.
