Wigan Athletic should have been cruising when they went 2-0 up after 30 minutes, instead they went out to try to beat the 7 goals scored by Arsenal against Middlesbrough the week before.

The Latics were always in control but didn’t manage to extend the lead.

Paul Jewell was disappointed with the players for not killing off the game, and with the way the two Middlesbrough goals were conceded to set-pieces yet again.
