Latics travel down to London on Tuesday night when they face Millwall at the Den, always a tough game, last season’s encounter was made even tougher by a weak referee, hopefully this time around we will have an experienced official to control the game fairly, so who is it?

The man charged with ensuring that there are no on the field shenanigans is Surrey whistle blower Lee Collins, not to be confused with the comedian Justin Lee Collins, well not until after the game at least.

Collins was promoted to the Football League National List for the season 2011/12 and in his debut game at the Priestfield Stadium between Gillingham and Cheltenham he sent off one and booked five in a stormy baptism.

This will be only his second Latics game, he refereed our defeat at Brighton last campaign, which ironically enough was also beamed back to the DW Stadium. So far in his career Collins has officiated just five games at Championship level in his five seasons in the middle, our defeat at 1-0 Brighton in November 2014 being the last one.

So not too experienced then!
