It appears that Wigan Athletic have signed Motherwell striker Ross McCormack on a pre-contract agreement that will see the young Scot become a Latics player in June, so long as relegation is avoided.

The Scottish Herald reports that McCormack travelled to Wigan this morning with his representatives after being ‘very impressed` with the Latics following a meeting with Steve Bruce and his assistant Eric Black.

McCormack`s arrival will spell the end of the possibility of Marcus Bent becoming a permanent Latics player and he will return to Charlton when his loan period ends in May
