Wigan Athletic will be without left back Maynor Figueroa for 7 weeks is the disappointing news boss Roberto Martinez received following a second scan on the Honduras international`s knee.
Figueroa injured himself in last weeks game at Burnley and he is facing up to a period on the side line indeed it will be the first league games that the 26 year old has missed since making his debut on the last day of the 2007/08 season
Speaking to the press an obviously disappointed Roberto Martinez said Figueroa is a fit man and hopefully he can make a speedy recovery, Martinez said: ‘Maynor has had a second scan and we now know he has a tear in the medial ligament in his left knee. It is not as bad as we feared at the beginning. He will be out for between six and seven weeks.’
‘Maynor is a strong man and very fit. We will support him as much as we can.
‘It is a big blow when any player is injured as we have a small squad and everyone has a massive role. But it is part of football and you have to cope.’
