Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa has been picked to be part of the Honduras Olympic football squad that will compete in the London 2012 Games

A great honour for both the club and the player, Figgy will have a busy summer ahead of him and miss the majority of the Latics preseason, Honduras play three friendlies before the Games begin, Gabon July 11th, UAE July 16th and Egypt July 19th, the serious stuff then starts in earnest

Honduras, who are in group D, kick-off their tournament on July 26th with a game against Morocco at Hampden Park, Glasgow, then it`s down to St. James` Park, Newcastle where they face Spain on the 29th July, before their final game of the group stage on August 1st against Japan at the City of Coventry Stadium

The top two sides from each group then qualify for the knock out phase of the tournament. The final of the tournament will take place on 11th August
