Wigan Athletic and Honduras left back Maynor Figueroa looks set for a move down the East Lancashire Road to join Roy Hodgson as he attempts to revitalise Liverpool into Champion League qualifiers.

Figueroa has been linked with moving away from the DW Stadium since last summer when former boss Steve Bruce attempted to sign him for Sunderland, that move never materialised, mainly due to the sum on offer, but interest in one of the best left backs in the Premier League has intensified a little with both Stoke and Liverpool eyeing the Honduran up.

It now appears that Liverpool have won the race for the 27 year olds signature with Figueroa`s agent claiming: ‘Just a few details remain before we confirm the signing.’

Maybe one of those details is his replacement at the Latics, touted by many to be PSV and Mexico left back Carlos Salcido who ironically Liverpool were also linked with
