Could Roberto Matinez be about to finally sign a player that he has chased for the best part of three yeas?
It is being reported that former Swansea midfield man Ferrie Bodde is training at the Latics with a view to earning a deal
The out of contract 30 year old was released by the Swans last summer and he’s been back home in Holland training with Den Haag in a bid to keep his fitness up following two horrific knee injuries that threatened to end his career
Bodde was signed for Swansea by Latics boss Roberto Martinez and he so highly rated him that he attempted to bring him to the DW Stadium with him in 2009, but Swansea weren’t for selling, they saw the talented play maker as integral to their challenge for promotion to the Premier League, unfortunately for all concerned Bodde suffered anterior cruciate knee ligament damage and torn cartilage in his left knee that put him out for 10 months
On his return to fitness the Latics were once again linked with him, unfortunately he had three setbacks before finally starting to play again, but in a reserve game he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in January 2012, this led to him being released last summer.
Bodde is a player that Martinez rates highly and it would be great for the lad if he can overcome his injury problems and earn himself a deal with the Latics
