Conflicting reports are surrounding Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez and his proposed move to Premier League club Wigan Athletic.

Rumours coming out of South Wales are saying that Martinez has been given permission by Swans chairman Huw Jenkins to talk to the Latics, whilst another source is claiming that following a meeting between Martinez and Jenkins this evening that the 35 year old Spaniard resigned his position as Swansea City manager.

With negotiations entered into concerning compensation for Martinez between Swansea and the Latics it is more than likely that agreement has either been made or at least is very close to being agreed and Jenkins has given permission for talks between the Latics and Martinez to take place.

Latics owner Dave Whelan declared Martinez to be his number one choice as successor to Steve Bruce who was unveiled as Sunderland boss today.
