Latics travel to Macclesfield this afternoon, weather permitting, for a tricky 4th round FA cup tie. No doubt Martinez will shuffle his pack, but even with changes the Latics should prove too strong, but the cup, as we know, is a great leveller
The game is a sell out, the pitch will be hard and with snow lying deep in the surrounding areas this game has a great cup tie written all over it, I for one am really looking forward to it
What The Bosses Say:
Latics boss Roberto Martinez:
‘There is going to be a lot of passion in the Moss Rose ground on Saturday and it is going to be a typical FA Cup tie.
‘Divisional status is not an issue in the FA Cup or any cup for that matter and as we’ve seen against Cardiff City in the last round.
‘We’re going to have over 2,000 of our fans filling a third of the ground which makes it even more significant for us and in many ways it is a blast from the past for some of our supporters that have been following the club since our days in the lower divisions.
‘We are really looking forward to the game and we want to progress to the fifth round.’
Macclesfield boss Steve King:
‘We’ve told the players they just need to make sure they don’t let themselves down. We have players who could play at a higher level, so they need to be on the top of their game.
‘Nines and tens and we can get a result, fives and sixes and we’re going out. But the game is self-motivational. We won’t have to say much to them to get them up for this.
‘Training has been non-contact all week because we didn’t want any injuries, but we’ve still lost Lance which is a blow to him. But the players are as up as I’ve seen them, and they are really looking forward to it.’
