The Latics lost their second game on the bounce when falling by three goals at Anfield to a Liverpool side that came alive in the second half

James McArthur didn`t recover in time from his dead leg so Ben Watson continued in midfield as Martinez named an unchanged side for the third game running

Both teams were cancelling each other out in a sterile first period, but Latics suffered a loss to a key position when Ben Watson, challenging with Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling for a ball just outside the Liverpool area collided with his opponent, at first it looked to be an innocuous knock, but turned out to be a broken leg for the Latics man

Dave Jones replaced Watson but we appeared to lose a bit of organisation from the centre of midfield. With the way Martinez set`s up the Latics the two defensive midfield men are so vital to the success of the formation, it is also something of a specialist role, with due respect to Dave Jones he isn`t perhaps best suited to the position

Liverpool were gifted an opening goal 2 minutes after the re-start, Jean Beausejour having a rare off day under hit a pass to Figueroa, Sterling raced onto the ball and crossed for Suarez to side foot home from 12 yards

10minutes later it was 2-0, Jose Enrique was allowed to cut inside and ran through the centre of the midfield before slipping a ball through for Suarez to poke past Ali for his and Liverpool`s second

The third goal came after a dreadful mistake by the assistant referee, a cross field ball by Ramis was headed into touch by Suarez, the throw was inexplicably given to Liverpool, with the Latics still remonstrating about the decision the ball was crossed to the far post where Jose Enrique had gotten goal side of Emmerson Boyce, the Liverpool player had an open goal to side foot home into

Both Caldwell and Di Santo found themselves in the book for dissent after arguing about the throw-in decision, Martinez substituted both before they found themselves in even hotter water.

All in all a poor display once Watson had left the field injured, cohesion was lost and quite a bit of indiscipline set-in regarding players holding their positions, couple this with several key players having a game to forget and it is best to put this one behind us
