Scottish newspapers are suggesting that Wigan supremo will turn to Levein, if attempts to appoint Roberto Martinez are unsuccessful.

Martinez who has been approached regarding the vacant Celtic post, is the firm favourite with the Wigan fans but may be tempted by a move to a Champion’s league club.

He played for Motherwell after leaving Wigan and his partner is Scottish. Martinez has also been linked to a move to Real Sociedad and is a man very much in demand.

Levein, who is 44 has managed in England before , with a two year stint at Leicester City which concluded with him being sacked ,with the club third from bottom of the championhsip.

His return to Scotland saw him eventuallu appointed as manager at Dundee United but a last day defeat to Rangers saw them miss out on lucrative European football and this may make him amenable to a retunr to England.
