Wigan Athletic are hot on the trail of ‘a number’ of players and, according to Latics CEO Jonathan Jackson, the club are working hard to secure deals quickly, so it would appear that incomings are imminent

In the days following the final whistle blowing an end to the last campaign Martinez said he wanted players brought in before the Euro’s, he said ‘their value could increase with a good tournament’ obviously suggesting that at least one player that we are chasing is set to feature in Euro 2012 that kicks-off next week

With Chris Kirkland, Momo Diame, Hugo Rodallega, Steve Gohouri and Hendry Thomas all out of contract and moving onto to pastures new the need to bring extra players to bolster the squad is evident, back to Jackson who told the Wigan Evening Post – ‘Before he went on holiday, Roberto identified a number of players who we are looking to recruit’

‘And we have been working hard to secure those deals as we speak.

“The season has only just finished, but you have to move quickly in these situations. And if Roberto wants a player we’ll do everything we can to make it happen.’

With the gaffers position at the club now clarified it’s time to get the new players in
