Wigan Athletic play their fifth game of the preseason this afternoon when La Liga side Real Mallorca visit the DW Stadium
So far so good for Martinez’s men, undefeated with two wins and two draws, but Mallorca should provide the sternest test so far
Of course Mallorca are the club that recent purchase Iván Ramis was bought from, the tough uncompromising defender only signed on the dotted line on Thursday so it may be unlikely that if he plays it will be nothing more than a cameo
Preseason friendlies aren’t noted for their high tempo, all action or excitement but it will be good to see the lads back in town, can’t wait.
What The Boss Say’s:
Roberto Martinez:
‘Mallorca will represent a really good test as they are on the back of a tremendous second half to the season finishing eighth in La Liga, and (Joaquin) Caparros has developed a really strong side to play against and a very talented team with an exciting future.
‘Their defensive record is very impressive and they are a very well balanced group which will present the perfect exercise for both teams in this pre-season.’
