Wigan Athletic are reportedly about to sign Yasser Al Qahtani a forward with 46 goals in 55 appearances for Saudi Arabia with Latics boss Steve Bruce keen to form an Arabian Dream Machine in the Latics attack
Al Qahatani was Asian player of the year in 2007 and he was a target for Manchester City before the departure of Sven Goran Erikson, he has also been unveiled has the Middle East ambassador for Gillette this week, obviously a man with a lot of potential.
Al Qahatani spoke to Emirate Business and told them:
‘I like the idea of playing with Zaki and I hope that a deal can happen, I am open to a move. If there is a good contract, then there is no problem.’
On the collapse of the City move he said:
‘There were some things on the contract that I did not like; some special points, I trained in Manchester for two days and there is not much difference; they are just a little faster and more professional. I think we just have to be stronger and show more power.
‘Sven, when he was in charge of Manchester City, said to me: ‘Yasser, you just need two months to get more power, after that you can play for any club in Europe’. When he said that, I was so proud.’
