Wigan Athletic are to keep 20 year old Airdrie striker Ryan Donnelly on their radar say’s Latics boss Roberto Martinez

The youngster spent last week training with the Latics and he was put through his paces at Christopher Park, reading comments made by Donnelly it’s obvious that he enjoyed his time ‘down south’ and it also appears that Martinez was impressed by the lad

Donnelly has had a great season so far with Airdrie, scoring 25 goals in just 33 games, he’s got an eye for goal no doubt, and the Latics are to monitor him for the rest of the season.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post about Donnelly, Martinez said: ‘Talented young players like Ryan are the kind we will always be interested in”

‘He’s had a very good season so far, and he came down so we could have a closer look at him.

‘Ryan had a very good week with us, it was nice to have him and I hope he enjoyed his time here.

‘It will have been useful for him, to experience life at a Premier League club and have a clear picture of where he wants to get to in his career.

‘He’s gone back home now and will play with Airdrie for the rest of the season, but he will definitely remain on our radar.’
