The Latics have released their retained list ahead of the new season, although four out of contract first team players haven’t been offered new deals there aren’t any real surprises.

Going out of the door are Leon Barnett after three seasons with the club, Kev McNaughton, he signed a one year deal last summer, but due to injury made just 3 appearances, Reece Wabara, arrived from Barnsley in January on a short term deal, 19 appearances and one goal but he is on his way, as is youngster Ryan Jennings who featured just once for the Latics, a 70th minute subs appearance against Bury in the Capital One cup.

Both Chris McCann and Jordan Flores have been offered new contracts.

In the Development Squad Matty Hamilton, Adrian Purzycki and Louis Robles have all unfortunately been released, but good news for Adam Anson, Sam Cosgrove, Owen Evans, Liam Langford and Danny O’Brien who have been offered renewed terms.

A lasting memory from one of the released players, Leon Barnett ripping his short off following his late, late equalising goal in a 2-2 draw with Doncaster Rovers at the DW Stadium back in August 2013.
