Wigan Athletic FC have announced, via the clubs official website, the purchase of a ready made training complex from local rivals Bolton Wanderers.

The site, situated 10 miles north of the DW Stadium in Euxton, Lancashire, has been used by Bolton for the past few years and it is a considerable step up from the Latics current training facilities at Christopher Park, which will now be used solely for the academy.

Speaking about the purchase Latics chairman David Sharpe said – ‘It’s integral to our future success that we have a high quality first team training ground, and an Academy based in one location enabling it to grow and develop the players of the future.’

The Latics first team squad will continue to be based at Christopher Park for the rest of this current campaign and move into their new facilities for preseason training ahead of the 2016/17 season.
