Wigan Athletic, according to the Sunday People, have bid £4 million for Marseille wide midfield man Mathieu Valbuena.

The 24 year old Frenchman has been at Marseille since June 2006 and made 75 appearances for the club scoring 7 goals one of which was the winner against Liverpool in a Champions League game.

Valbuena took the place of Frank Ribery in the team when the France international left for Bayern Munich and he has been called up to the France international squad but as yet not made any appearances due to injury.

At 5` 5″ Valbuena isn`t the biggest guy and his nickname is Le Petit vélo, the small bike.
