Wigan Athletic midfield man Jordi Gomez has had his red card, that he received in Saturday’s game at Sunderland, rescinded today by the FA

Referee Howard Webb showed the Spaniard a straight red when he challenged Sunderland defender Danny Rose for a 50/50 ball, but the Latics appealed the decision and submitted video evidence, plus a personal letter from Roberto Martinez. Surprisingly the FA have taken notice and now Gomez will available for selection when in form Everton visit the DW Stadium on Saturday

Speaking to Latics Official Martinez said – “It does not bring back the time lost when Jordi had to leave the field but I am delighted that we can draw a line under this incident and that Jordi is available for us on Saturday.”
