Jewell in loan move

Paul Jewell is believed to have asked Alex Ferguson if he can take centre-back Gerard Pique on loan in January.

The 18 year-old was signed from Barcelona but has yet to break into the first-team at Old Trafford. He could provide cover for De Zeeuw and Henchoz while Thome is injured.
