Hull Vs Wigan

Hull will be welcoming Wigan Athletic to the KC Stadium in the hopes of maintaining their excellent start to the new campaign despite many pundits having them down as relegation fodder and if things continue the way they do, it might make for an interesting, unexpected season ahead.

Wigan, in contrast, have lost their opening two fixtures of the Premier League campaign but they showed more than enough endeavour in those two games and should’ve claimed at least a point against West Ham at Upton Park and Chelsea at the JJB Stadium but in these cases, it wasn’t to be.

The thing about Wigan is that they shall not look back, only forward to try and claim three vital points at the KC Stadium to try and kick start their disappointing start to the campaign.

Hull have started the season surprisingly well and I expect them to give the Latics team a real test. Wigan know this is a game they have to get at least a draw from if not a win if they are to climb up the table. At the moment, Wigan find themselves in the relegation places, but with only two games having been played, Latics have all to play for.

I expect a thoroughly entertaining affair at the KC Stadium and Zaki and Heskey will undoubtedly be a handful for the Hull outfit up front and with so much creativity in midfield and stubbornness in defence, one thinks that Hull might find life difficult against this Latics outfit.

HULL: PLAYER TO WATCH
=====================

Geovanni: This guy has already proven he’s doing some good business for Hull and he will give the Latics defence a hard time so he’ll be the only real player of note to take notice of. That’s no disrespect to the Hull side but he is the one player of real quality that will cause the defence problems. That said, with Boyce and Bramble in the defence, Geovanni may not even get a sniff.

WIGAN: PLAYER TO WATCH
======================

Amr Zaki: Zaki scored a brilliant goal at West Ham and was unlucky against Chelsea but the Egyptian has to make a mark at some point to illuminate his excellent footballing reputation and I think that Hull might just get a glimpse of what he is capable of.

PREDICTION
==========

This is a very difficult game to predict as Hull have made a really bright start to the season and I expect they just might be the surprise package to avoid the drop. Its early days, admittedly, but I suspect that Hull will put a battle up against Wigan at the KC Stadium. However, Wigan know they need to accumalate points quickly to move up the table and I think that Wigan must just claim Hull’s scalp here.

ROB’S PREDICTION: HULL 1 WIGAN 2

Wigan have been unlucky so far but I think they’ll be after someone’s scalp to try and get those incredibly important three points and Hull might just be the ones who incur the wrath of the Latics!
