Who is the best striker Wigan Athletic have had whilst a Premier League club? Hugo Rodallega that’s who, well according to our last poll he is.
With the Colombia international breaking the record for number of goals scored by a Latics player in the Premier League recently I thought it might be a good idea to see if people agreed with my views on Hugo, that he is in fact the best striker we have had.
Without doubt Rodallega misses some glorious chances, but when needed he doesn’t half have a habit of popping up with those all important goals, just like he demonstrated in the last game of the season at Stoke when his 79th minute header gave us the 1-0 win to seal our survival as a Premier League club for another season.
Since his arrival at the club Hugo has been a firm fans favourite, he is hard working and certainly not afraid to shoot with either foot from anywhere, not always the best option but this sometimes this leads to spectacular goals, Villa away in the 2009/10 season is a prime example.
Hugo is now entering his final year of his current contract, a time for players to move or sign extensions, let’s hope that Colombia’s finest export (ah erm) decides that his future is best served with his amigos at the Latics
