It`s ‘glory, glory Man United` tomorrow as the red bandwagon heads into town to pick up their customary three points at the DW Stadium, with those cheeky United fans standing up proud in the East, West and South Stands with arms out stretched singing in tandem with their comrades in the away end, taking their coats off to reveal replica United shirts circa 1999, very Sharp.

Supporters who can`t afford, can`t get tickets or simply can`t find their way to Old Trafford will consider it amusing to invade the home sections of the Latics ground and announce their arrival in a smug arrogance that makes them the most despised set of supporters in the whole of the Premier League.

Why, like other visitors who find themselves in home sections, can`t they simply sit on their hands and watch their hero`s perform for ninety minutes, then meet up with their buddies after the game for a sing song, instead of goading 12 year old lads into gesticulating and frightening younger kids and older women into tears.

The Latics have clamped down heavily on who they sell their home allocation to for Cat A games such as Saturdays clash with United, but a mate of a mate can sometimes be tapped up and tickets acquired, all well and good and all fair enough so long as the rules of etiquette are followed, gentle applause, the nod of a head and so on, we see it time and again from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal fans who find their way into the ‘home` ends to watch their team play, so why do the ‘cocks of the north`, very fitting too, find they have to give it large?

Maybe because they are more local to the Latics than the club that runs through their veins, maybe they need to prove their support in front of people who know them, `oh look, it`s that dickhead from up the road who claims he supports United, he must do, wow`, whatever the reason the look on their face as they are ‘escorted` out of the ground is a peach.

There have been many incidents when the two clubs have met in Wigan in the past few seasons, the worst probably being May 2008 when United picked up the title at the then JJB, with scuffles breaking out all over the place as ‘fans` celebrated goals with venomous over elaborate gestures into the faces of Latics supporters who were sat around them, what a great set of supporters they are.

With the game closing in on being a sell out, both clubs desperate for points for different reasons, I am hoping that the usual trend of the Wigan, Leigh and Tyldesley Red`s finding their way into the Latics ends has been averted, but I won`t be holding my breath and when the ‘glory, glory Man United` starts to ring out I`ll be keeping my eye out for the ‘cocks of the north`.
