Following his double hip operation during the summer Wigan Athletic club captain Gary Caldwell made his return to first team action in last night`s Carling Cup win over Swansea at the DW Stadium, and the skipper said ‘it`s great to be back`
Caldwell replaced his brother Steven at centre back and partnered Antolin Alcaraz in the heart of the Latics defence, Swansea came out and attacked on every occasion possible giving the former Celtic player just the test he was looking for.
Speaking to Latics Player, Caldwell says that he was a little tired at the end of the game but can`t wait to get back to training on Thursday.
Caldwell said: “When you`re out for such a long time you miss playing football and it`s just great to be back”
“I feel good and the hips feel fine, though I was a little tired at the end, I`ll see how I am tomorrow, hopefully recover well then look forward to training on Thursday”
