Wigan Athletic club captain Gary Caldwell has been named in the Scotland starting eleven for tonight`s Euro Qualifier against the Czech Republic.

The Latics defender has only played 68 minutes of one reserve game since he underwent double hip surgery during the summer and club boss Roberto Martinez said recently that he didn`t think the former Celtic captain would be back until November.

So Caldwell`s speedy recovery isn`t only good news for Scotland but also it’s good news for the Latics, with him proving himself on the international stage then Martinez will know he is also ready to return to first team action at the DW Stadium.

Scotland’s starting XI: McGregor, Hutton, Weir, McManus, Whittaker, D Fletcher, G Caldwell, Dorrans, Morrison, Mackie, Naismith.
