Wigan Athletic skipper Gary Caldwell has been sent home from the Scotland squad training camp ahead of their game against Estonia with an injury and he is facing a race to be fit for the Latics weekend visit to Chelsea

With the defensive problems endured by the Latics this season Roberto Martinez will be praying that his club captain will recover in time to make the trip south, Paul Scharner has been brought in on loan, but with Emmerson Boyce, Ivan Ramis, Antolin Alcaraz and Adrian Lopez all out and Maynor Figueroa away on international duty with Honduras this week there will undoubtedly be some serious work going on in the treatment room at Christopher Park
