Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Richard Kingson suffered World Cup heart ache last night following Ghana`s penalty shoot out defeat to Uruguay with a place in the semi final at stake.

The 32 year old shot stopper has had a good tournament but he was left cursing last night when four of the five penalties he faced found the back of his net and with Ghana missing two of their efforts the South Americans went through to the last four whilst Kingson and the last African team that was left in the competition now make their way home.

It could have been so much different though, with the game tied at 1-1 and into the last minute of extra-time Ghana were awarded a penalty after Uruguay striker Suarez clawed an effort off the goal line with his hand, Suarez was sent off but unfortunately the penalty was crashed against the bar by Ghana leading scorer Gyan.

Latics still have world cup interest with new signing Antolin Alcaraz lining up in defence for Paraguay when they face Spain in tonight`s last quarterfinal game.
