A delighted Jordan Flores has signed a two-year contract extension with Wigan Athletic.

Speaking to wiganathletic.com, the Wigan-born midfielder beamed: ‘I support this club, I love this club and I have always wanted to play here.’

Flores first appeared in a Latics senior squad in 2014, but was a mainstay of the youth setup, progressing through the Under-17 and Under-21 sides. He made his debut against Brentford right at the end of the 2014/15 season, appearing for 26 minutes as Latics lost 3-0 at Brentford.

The 21 year-old spent much of the 2016/17 season on loan at Blackpool. During his four-month stay at the Tangerines, he made 21 appearances and scored 3 goals, helping them win the League Two playoffs and achieve promotion to League One.

‘The Cup has paired us against Blackpool so I am looking forward to that. It will be good to play them in the league at Bloomfield Road too – I think the fans are happy that one is on a Saturday!’

Following Flores’ first senior goal for the club, the Progress With Unity Wigan Athletic podcast spoke to his dad Manny.
