Former Wigan Athletic youngster Joe Holt, who was released from the club in July this year, has joined Evo-Stick First Division North side Cammel Laird.

The 21 year old midfield man made one Premier League appearance for the Latics, coming on as a substitute in Steve Bruce’s last game in charge against Portsmouth in May 2009, following his release from Wigan, Holt has had trials with MK Dons, Plymouth Argyle and Tranmere Rovers but couldn’t agree terms at any of those clubs.

It’s believed that Holt has signed none contract terms with Lairds in an effort to get himself fit with a view to finding a professional contract with a league club, his experience and ability will no doubt benefit his new side who currently sit next to bottom of the table after suffering a 3-1 defeat on Saturday, now that sounds familiar
