Emmerson Boyce has been voted the Wigan Athletic man of the match for his performance in Monday night’s defeat away to Newcastle.

Boycey had a great game at the back, he lost two of his partners, Maynor Figueroa sent off on 12 minutes and Gary Caldwell replaced at half-time, but the stand-in skipper stepped up to the mark and marshalled not only the defence, but also the team really well in the second half, great game from the fans favourite

For the record the voting was:

Emmerson Boyce – 55%
Ronnie Stam – 33%
James McCarthy – 11%
