Latics take on Crystal Palace at the DW Stadium in the 4th round of the FA cup and manager Uwe Rosler has a concern or two prior to the game, Ty Browning isn’t available after Everton refused permission to play him in the FA cup, Nick Powell is struggling with a hamstring injury and won’t be risked, Thomas Rogne is still a bit off returning, Rob Kiernan is cup tied and Ivan Ram is may well have left the club come kick off time.
New loan signing Josh McEachran isn’t ready to be considered and won’t be risked, according to Rosler ‘…at the moment, Josh is not at his best so we have to make sure he recovers form, he recovers confidence and he is capable of performing consistently at a high tempo…’
Also speaking about team selection for the Palace game Rosler told Latics official –‘Tyias Browning and Rob Kiernan will be unavailable for the game; Tyias has not been given permission to play whereas Rob is cup-tied.
‘In addition to that, Nick Powell will not start the game as he only trained with the team on Friday, but maybe he’ll have a similar role as he did for our away game against MK Dons – coming on if necessary.
‘He had one or two problems with his ankle and hamstring after the Doncaster game and he’s recovered since, but with not training through the week it means he`s not ready to start Saturday’s game, and it would be a risk with the game against Middlesbrough on Tuesday to think about also.’
Latics possible – Al Habsi, Perch, Boyce, Barnett, McCann, McArthur, Espinoza, Watson, McManaman, Maynard, Fortune
For Palace Jerome Thomas and Kagisho Dikgacoi are suffering from calf problems and won’t play, Jack Hunt and Glenn Murray are also out injured, but Paddy McCarthy is likely to be back in the Palace squad after recovering from injury.
Crystal Palace from – Speroni, Gabbidon, Mariappa, Parr, Delaney, Williams, Chamakh, Dikgacoi, Bolasie, Bannan, Puncheon, Gayle, Boateng, O’Keefe, McCarthy, Moxey, Dobbie, Price.
