Following a dramatic James McArthur injury time equaliser last weekend against Reading, it was the Latics turn to suffer final minute heartbreak as Frank Moussa’s late strike cannoned off Rob Kiernan’s boot to loop over the outstretched fingers of Scott Carson to send Rösler’s men home empty handed.

Charlton took an early lead when on 8 minutes Jordan Cousins cut inside from wide on the left, he skirted along the edge of the Latics penalty box before unleashing a superb drive that curled into Scott Carson’s goal at the far post, 1-0.

Latics responded and were level 14 minutes later, an up field ball to Callum McManaman by James McArthur found the Latics wide man lovely, McManaman cut inside the box, tied his marker in knots before firing home left footed from a tight angle, 1-1.

Igor Vetokele had a great chance to give Charlton the lead, the Angola international outfoxed Rob Kiernan on the half way line, then poked the ball passed Ivan Ramis to leave himself sprinting down one on one with Scott Carson, the Latics keeper held his ground and parried away Vetokele’s effort.

Then with the game going into injury time Charlton grabbed the points, Moussa played the ball into Vetokele on the edge of the area, Vetokele laid it back and Moussa’s shot hit Kiernan’s foot as the young defender put a challenge in, the ball looped over Carson and that was that.

There were handbags at the end as both managers had an angry exchange, apparently Rösler wasn’t happy with the way Bob Peeters celebrated the goal, a bit of passion from the boss, pity his player’s didn’t show any.

Another poor performance with very little created, just four attempts on goal from the Latics shows where the problem lies, two very ordinary sides on show, we need to start picking our game up if we are to have any say in the challenge for promotion.
