Wigan Athletic have received some good news this week with Manchester United allowing Tom Cleverley to stay at the DW Stadium until the end of the season.

Cleverley joined the Latics on loan at the start of the season, United have a clause allowing them to recall the player in January and it was anticipated that the youngster would be on his way back to Old Trafford to provide cover, but following a hamstring injury that has seen the midfielder sidelined for the last three weeks Sir Alex Ferguson has decided that it would be more beneficial if Cleverley stayed put.

Good news then as the Latics face a tough run in to the end of the season, a player of Tom Cleverley`s ability and goal scoring prowess will be a useful weapon for Roberto Martinez to use.
