Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland`s proposed loan move to Championship club Leicester City looks set to be completed in the next couple of days.

The big shot stopper was all set to join Sven Goran Erikssons Foxes last week but in typical Kirkland fashion he developed a virus which set the move back a week, now that`s cleared up Kirkie could be signed up and all set to make his debut in Leicester’s Monday night derby clash with Nottingham Forest.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez confirmed the delay but now says that Kirkland`s move is imminent. Martinez said: “Now he (Kirkland) is over the bug, we will look into what we can do to help him enjoy his football.

“He needs to be playing and being able to maintain that sharpness. We will need him to be ready whenever he gets an opportunity to play for Wigan.”
