Chelsea 8-0 Latics

Chelsea were proclaimed the Champions today as the sorry Latics were left licking their wounds after a storming display by the West London side that was started by Nicolas Anelka crashing home on six minutes.

A tough game and soundly beaten though the Latics started off brightly enough but once Chelsea got their noses in front as early as they did there was only going to be one winner.

The Wigan team can feel a little sorry for themselves with Chelsea`s first goal laid on by an off-side Malouda and then Chelsea were awarded a penalty after Frank Lampard went down like he`d been shot after the merest of touches from Gary Caldwell who was shown a red card for the offence, all that just after the half hour mark, effectively game over.

Unfortunately for the Latics it wasn`t and Chelsea stamped their authority and superiority by scoring another 6 goals in the second half to make the final score 8-0 and make a sorry end to the season for Roberto and his weary troops.

A time now to re-group and plan for the next campaign where better things will be expected, an influx of quality in the summer should see the Latics build on some of the good results and put performances like today well and truly behind them.

Congratulations to Chelsea on being crowned Champions

I think it’s points that keeps you in the league this season? Let me check wikipedia!

I don’t think you boys have done too badly this season, really. Martinez has done a good job, bringing some nice football in as well, and I think you’ve got a lot to look forward to again next year. Nice touch as well with you lads giving us a clap at the end today as well – I don’t think anybody wanted to see United win it for another year, did they?

Is that a Villa fan calling us for losing by a large score to Chelsea?

  • Wiganlatics09 says:

yes it may be the points that keep you in the leauge but having the worst goal differential is not a stat we want to have

Congratulations to Chelsea for the title. The worst goal difference and ending the season on a real low is hugely disappointing, but we shall move on and hopefully push further than just a relegation battle next season.
