What could have been a disastrous weekend for the Latics following the 2-2 draw away at Fulham on Friday night, turned out to be a case of as you were, with both Millwall and Rotherham losing we’re still in with a shout, Gary Caldwell’s men actually climbed one place in the table.

With just four games remaining and seven points from safety survival still looks pretty bleak, the next two games are vitally important, we have Millwall away on Tuesday and Brighton at the DW Stadium this coming Saturday, Rotherham face tricky fixtures, away at Fulham on Wednesday then a home game against high flying Norwich City at the weekend.

Come Saturday evening we could be just one point behind the Millers, we could also be officially relegated. No pressure then.

At the top end of the Championship there are just four points separating the top four side, Bournemouth, Norwich, Watford and Middlesbrough, it looks a case of who will hold their nerve to claim the two automatic spots, for me it’s Bournemouth and one other.

What is surprising is that not one team are on two points per game, considering that last season’s champions Leicester City smashed the 100 points barrier and Burnley weren’t too far away on 95, this time round the maximum that current top of the pile Bournemouth can achieve is 92 shows that the division is very close in terms of quality throughout.
