Spanish website La Nueva is reporting that Wigan Athletic target Roberto Canella`s arrival at the Latics from Sporting Gijon is subject to Maynor Figueroa leaving the DW Stadium.

The highly rated Spain under 21 international is thought to have been lined up by Latics boss Roberto Martinez to replace current left back Figueroa who is wanted by Premier League rivals Sunderland though the North East club are reportedly reluctant to meet Latics asking price of £8 million.

There appears to be a bit of a stalemate at the moment on both deals and Sporting Gijon have had there financial troubles eased somewhat by the sale of club captain Michel to Birmingham.
