Henri Camara left Wigan Athletic on a 6 month loan spell with fellow Premier League outfit Stoke City and the Senegal striker says he is determined to be a hit in the Potteries.

Camara featured a lot in preseason and he was optimistic of making the starting line-up once the season got under way but the competition from Zaki and Heskey was too fierce for Little Henri and he found himself on the bench and had to put up with cameo roles late in games. He told reporters:

‘I had a good pre-season and was scoring goals, and then suddenly I went back on the (Wigan) bench’

‘That’s the only reason why I left Wigan.

‘That was not good for me, so that was the only reason that pushed me to come to Stoke. It is so I can get first-team football and show what I can do.’

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has been chasing Camara since the summer and he almost signed for the Potters on deadline day back in August but Latics failure to bring in Fraiser Campbell from Manchester United put paid to that, but as they say if you wait long enough it will come and it certainly has for Camara and Pulis, Henri added:

‘I know how to score goals and I’m definitely going to do that.’

‘I know I have scored goals all over. I haven’t had much playing time, but if Stoke give me the chance I could get that. My record speaks for itself, so I could definitely do it.

‘Whatever the manager asks me to do, I will do it because I know he has been trying to get me since last year.

‘I hope the manager will give me my chance. I will take it.’
