Latics striker Callum McManaman has joined Championship club Blackpool on a three month loan, the England under 20 international is set to make his debut in Tuesday’s home game against Doncaster Rovers when he could come face to face with Chris Kirkland who has gone on loan to Donny.

Vital Wigan were aware of the deal yesterday (Sunday) but official confirmation was only announced by the Latics today (Monday), the clubs statement reads:

Wigan Athletic have confirmed that England Under 20 International striker Callum McManaman has joined Championship side Blackpool on loan until January.

The 20 year old is highly thought of at the DW Stadium and manager Roberto Martinez believes this move will be a huge boost for him.

There is a recall clause in the contract during the first 28 days of the loan period, which runs out on January 2 2012. Theoretically, as this is classed as a youth loan move, McManaman is still eligible to play for Wigan Athletic in the Barclays Reserve League.
