Latics under-18 stars Callum Lang and Luke Burgess have become the latest to sign new contracts with the club.

The 18-year olds immediately took to Twitter to express their delight at penning 2-year contract extensions.

Lang, who recently won the Michael Millet Award for Youth Team Player of the Year, said of his deal: ‘Happy to have signed a new contract with the club. Can`t wait to get back, hopefully another solid season.’

And in a spot of potential plagiarism, Burgess wrote: ‘Made up to have signed a new contract with Latics. Can’t wait to get back at [it] tomorrow, hopefully another good season.’

Since Lang posted his Tweet first, we can possibly assume Burgess copied from his paper. But it would be hypocritical for this small time Internet weblogger to continue this line of conversation.

Burgess and Lang were among four youth players offered professional contracts in April, the others being Chris Merrie and Sam Stubbs. All four were instrumental in guiding the club to the Fifth Round of last season’s FA Youth Cup and the national final of this season’s EFL Youth Alliance Cup.

Lang scored a 68th minute goal in the Youth Alliance Cup Final as Latics lost 4-2 to Bournemouth at the DW Stadium in May.
