Latics travel to face Walsall at the Bescot Stadium tomorrow and once again, for the umpteenth time this season, there will be a huge away following travelling down the M6.
To say that the supporters have enjoyed the trips so far this campaign would be an understatement, from Peterborough away on a Tuesday night, to local derbies at Bury, Crewe, Oldham and Rochdale the away support has been phenomenal, the fans have packed the away ends at Barnsley, Fleetwood and Bradford and sang their hearts out to inspire some great results and comebacks along the way.
The backing the team have received away from home hasn’t gone unnoticed and Latics boss Gary Caldwell is full of praise for the fans, speaking to Latics official website he says – ‘It’s incredible and we say it every week, but it can’t go unnoticed because the following we’ve had away from home this season has given us more belief and encouragement to go and get results.’
With Saturday’s encounter potentially having a massive bearing on the rest of the season Caldwell is asking the fans to get their throats cleared and be in fine voice to hopefully cheer the lads on to another top performance.
Caldwell continued – ‘Because it’s such a big game, we’ll need them right the way through to get behind us and I’m sure we’ll get the result that they want.’
All together now! ‘You are my sunshine’
