Wigan Athletic are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Dan Burn in the two nil victory over Fleetwood Town at the weekend at the DW Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Burn was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘It was a great day all round for Wigan Athletic on Saturday, defeating Fleetwood Town 2-0 to extend their lead at the top of Sky Bet League One to four points. After Nick Powell opened the scoring for the Latics, defender Burn then headed a Lee Evans free-kick into the top corner of the goal ? which accompanied an assured defensive performance from the 25-year-old.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Burn for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.
