Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is ready to start negotiations to make striker Amr Zaki a permanent signing at the Latics following his successful loan spell from Egyptian club Zamalek.
Zaki signed in a blaze of glory during the summer and started the season off on fire but he has suffered from a niggling injury since the back end of October and as a result his goals have dried up a little though he is still the clubs leading goal scorer with 10
Bruce is keen to sort his front line out for next season before the end of the current term and with Hugo Rodallega brought in from Necaxa he is looking to secure Zaki sooner rather than later and run the risk of the Egypt striker moving on.
Bruce says that the fee for the striker is the big discussion point and if they can get that agreed then Zaki can become a permanent fixture at the Latics, Bruce told the media:
‘There will be a time when we are going to ask his club Zamalek exactly what the price is. It was £12m four months ago, at the start it might have been £6m.
‘The ball is in their court – there will be dialogue.’
