The Daily Star is reporting that, when Bruce is installed as Sunderland manager, his first task will be to launch a 5 million pound bid for Bramble.

Titus Bramble ,who was a runaway winner of the Player of the year, the Player’s player of the year and most importantly Vital Wigan’s player of the year, has prospered under Bruce’s tutelage at Wigan and may be tempted into a return to the North East.

Wigan have been in talks regarding an extended contract for the central defender and it was reported that both sides were close to an agreement. However, since news broke of Sunderland’s interest in Bruce, things have gone quiet and if Bramble has a clause in his contract allowing him to talk to other clubs if a specific amount is bid ,then Bruce would know about it

With other media reports linking Cattermole following Bruce back to the North East the reverberations from Bruce’s expected move could be felt for some time to come.
