Wigan Athletic have received an official bid from Sunderland for England under 21 star and former Middlesbrough midfield player Lee Cattermole.

It has been rumoured for some while now that former Latics boss Steve Bruce would come back to the club and try and prise Cattermole away but chairman Dave Whelan insisted recently that Catts was not for sale and going nowhere.

Latics new boss Roberto Martinez speaks highly of the 20 year old midfield man and says that Cattermole has true leadership qualities, lets hope that continues to enjoy his football development at the DW Stadium rather than head back up to the North East
