Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is disappointed that Latics didn`t come away from White Hart Lane with all three points

Given the change to analyse the game Bruce was in a reflective mood when questioned yesterday about the visit to North London, he told reporters:

‘I do feel we had a really fantastic chance to win, so we’re a bit disappointed we took the wrong option in the final third too many times and didn’t make the killer pass.

‘Tottenham were there for the taking, and once we rode a spell in the second half when their fans got right behind them, there was only going to be one winner.

‘We just needed to have more of a cutting edge when we were attacking. Unfortunately we didn’t create enough chances to win the game.

‘That said, no one ever seems to give us a chance of getting anything when we go to places like Spurs, so I’m not going to turn my nose up at a draw.”

Bruce was delighted with the performance of the defence and he had special praise for Titus Bramble who conceded an own goal the previous week against Sunderland but bounced back with an assured performance, Bruce concluded:

‘I thought Emmerson Boyce and Titus Bramble were terrific in the centre of defence, and Mario Melchiot was good too at right-back.

‘And when Chris Kirkland did have something to do, his handling was impeccable.

‘I don’t remember Spurs getting past us too many times.”
