Wigan Athletic defender Emmerson Boyce is quietly confident about the Latics picking up some points in Saturdays Premier League clash against Manchester City at Eastlands.

Boyce has just returned to training following a hamstring injury, even though this weekends game may just come round too soon for the likeable Barbados international to make the starting line-up, but that hasn`t stopped him giving out the positive vibes.

The 31 year old acknowledges that the City squad is crammed with top class players but reckons that due to their inconsistent performances the Latics have a chance of gaining something from the game.

Boyce said: ‘You look at City’s team – they have world-class players right through from the goalkeeper to the strikers. They’re still challenging for the title and they’ll be looking for a result themselves.

‘We’ll go there with not as much fear as you have playing Manchester United, believing we can come away with something.

‘City have struggled with consistency this season, and hopefully a good performance will see us picking up three points.’
